Dragon and Lady Dragon Cross Country gained valuable experience this week on the course where they expect their season to end.

The McNeil Invitational is ran on the same course at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock where the state meet is contested. The Lady Dragon Elite Varsity squad finished in 2nd place while the Dragon Elite Varsity finished in 3rd place.

The Lady Dragons were led by Senior Sofia Santamaria who finished in 20th overall with a time of 18:16. The Dragons were paced by Junior Nate Lannen who finished in 17th with a time of 15:22.

Closer to home a split squad of Dragons ran in the Wildcat Prowl in the Park in Denton. The Varsity Boys took 2nd and the Varsity girls took 5th. The JV girls and boys both captured 1st.

Head Cross Country Coach Justin Leonard was thrilled with the outcome of the busy week, saying "We are extremely proud of the effort that our runners put forth this weekend in their last pre-district competition...Words can't express how proud we are of our runners that competed in the Wildcat Prowl in the Park Invite. We were able to split our teams into two meets and still come away with four top five Varsity finishes and two 1st place team performances in the JV division. This speaks volumes about our team depth..."

Cross Country has a week of practice next week to prepare for the District 5-6A meet on Oct. 11th.
