Carroll Cross Country Boys take 2nd and Girls take 4th at State Championship Meet

Dragon Cross Country continued its tradition of excellence by finishing 2nd this past weekend at the UIL Class 6A State championship at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock. The Lady Dragons also ran well finishing in 4th place overall.

The Dragons were led by Nate Lannen who finished in 6th place overall with a time 15:18. Tim McElaney was 13th at 15:30 with Jack Myers right beside him in 14th at 15:31. Henry Gardner came in 36th in 15:53. Drew Bliss came in 44th at 15:56 and Antonio Florcruz and Steven Torres rounded out the team in 53rd and 55th respectively. All team members met the Elite Performance Standards with times of 16:30 or less.

The Lady Dragons finished just off the podium in 4th place and were led by Sofia Sanatamaria in 7th at 17:54. Grace Williamson came in 11th at 18:11. Lydia Lo was in 23rd at 18:26 and Payton Wichman was right behind her in 25th at 18:27. Tatum Foreman and Katherine McElaney completed the varsity team and came in 66th and 82nd respectively.

Head Cross Country Coach Justin Leonard said, "We are so proud of the way our kids competed at the State meet. We went into the meet with the goal of winning...I would like to thank this group of seniors for all of their dedication over the last four years."
