Your Dragon and Lady Dragon Cross Country teams are headed back to Old Settler's Park for the UIL State Championship meet, as each team qualified Monday. For the Lady Dragons it is a generation of qualifications now as they qualify for the state meet for the 22nd consecutive year - or three year's before this current group of seniors was born!! The Dragons also have a respectable streak going with 9 straight years of state championship qualifications.

The Dragons qualified by taking the Region 1 championship held in Lubbock at Mae Simmons Park. The Lady Dragons also qualified by taking 2nd place.

The Dragons were led by Nate Lannen who was the team's top finisher with a 4th place overall finish coming in at 15:03. Jack Myers was next on the team in 14th at 15:28 and right behind him was Tim Mcelaney in 16th at 15:29. Steven Torres came in 22nd at 15:37 and Antonio Florcruz was 23rd at 15:38.

The Lady Dragons were led by Sofia Santamaria who crossed the line in 6th place with a time of 17:45. Grace Williamson came in at 6th at 18:22 and Lydia Lo was 19th at 18:28. Payton Wichman was 20th at 18:31 and Lauren Langenberg was 28th at 18:46.

Head Coach Justin Leonard was pleased with his team's effort saying "Our boys' and girls' teams were able to come out to Regionals and accomplish the goal of qualifying for the state meet. We are extremely proud of they way they stepped up and were able to perform at a high level. We are excited to run at the state meet and pursue our goal of winning state."

Each squad earned a pair of Lone Star Cup points for advancing to the state meet. As you might can tell, the Carroll Dragons are on a mission this year. We want the Lone Star Cup back.

One last week of training this week before the season concludes at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Nov. 3rd for the STATE championship!!
