Fresh off a gauntlet of a week which saw your Lady Dragon Varsity Volleyball squad play 10 matches and improve 6 spots from its tournament finish at Pearland, they finished 10th at Pearland and 4th at Northwest, LDVB's reward was one final 10 match week this week which began with a match at crosstown Grapevine tonight.

The team stormed off the bus with a 25-16 win over its former crosstown rival. (But you can't call a team a rival when you haven't played them in a district match in nearly a decade.) The Mustangs rebounded in set 2 handing LDVB a 20-25 second set defeat, which saw Grapevine storm back from trailing 14-8. With their backs pushed against the wall in its first true road match this squad was in desperate need of a response and get one they did. With a 25-20 momentum changing 3rd set victory, the air went out of the Mustangs once the Lady Dragons took the lead back and the 4th set was never a challenge. LDVB took a commanding 25-12 final set for the twisting and turning 3-1 win.

This improves their overall record to 16 up and 4 down and snap a nasty little two match losing streak. The gauntlet is thrown down all over again as the team will likely see another nine matches before seeing an off day on Sunday as they head to the PSA Lone Star Circle of Champions Tournament held in Murphy, Texas on Aug. 24-25.
